One of Ford’s most well known cars is the Taurus. For 2010 the Taurus has been entirely overhauled and the newer version is edgy, attractive and better than ever before. The new model boasts a new grille, reshaped headlights plus the cabin has been dampened to reduce excess noise. Four models are available, the SE, SEL, Limited and SHO. The Taurus will compete in the competitive full sized sedan niche with popular cars like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
The regular Taurus models are equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine and outputs 263 HP with 249 of pound feet of torque. The SHO version can travel from 0-60 miles in just 6 seconds. Gas mileage for the SHO model is 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the freeway. The new Taurus SHO model features a 3.5 Liter V6 engine with a massive 365 horsepower, which is quite good when you keep in mind how much power the engine has. Fuel consumption stands at 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the freeway.
The Taurus’ cabin stands out from the crowed with ingenious design, well placed controls and spaciousness. The contoured seats are extremely comfortable and offer excellent lumbar support and helps reduce driver fatigue. The controls are illuminated by cool blue lighting and there is also ambient lighting available in various colors. The 2010 Taurus offers a very large trunk with a whopping 20 cubic feet.
There are many great features available such as an advanced navigation system available which provides you with detailed turn by turn directions. A keyless entry keypad enables you to open the doors without using a key, you just simply touch the keypad and it lightens up. With the SHO model there is an innovative rear camera available which allows you to view directly what is behind you on the navigation screen or the rearview mirror. An advanced SYNC system allows super easy compatibility with most MP3 players and Bluetooth phones. With Sync, you can even receive instant traffic updates through your car stereo.
Ford’s engineers loaded up the Taurus with the most advanced safety features including anti-lock brakes, front and side curtain airbags, rain sensing windshield wipers, adaptive cruise control, traction and skid control, a Blind Spot Information system which lets you know when there is another vehicle driving in your blind spot. A Tire Pressure Monitoring system is in place which alerts you when your tires need to be checked out.
The 2010 Taurus is a great choice if you are looking for a versatile car. It can function as the perfect family full size sedan but it’s still edgy and sporty due to its new design. Plus there are plenty of nice luxury touches on the inside. If you weren’t a huge fan of Taurus before, the 2010 model might just change your mind.
