When a motorist has their license suspended or revoked due to high risk actions, such as driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to carry proper insurance, or automotive accidents, it almost certainly hinders their ability to purchase insurance. Even when a license suspended for these reasons is reinstated, the motorist will often be at a loss to acquire legally mandated auto coverage. Because insurance coverage is a requirement for all drivers, this would seem to leave offenders with only two options: do not drive at all anymore, or take the illegal and extremely dangerous risk of driving without insurance. Fortunately, there is a third, more sensible option available via an SR22 Insurance Form.

“SR22″ is not a specific insurance plan, but rather the name of the certificate used by the insurer to file the motorist’s policy with the state.

SR22 Requirements

Requirements vary from state to state. In general, it entails coverage that provides the minimum required amount of insurance for a motorist to drive in that state. It is important to remember that this insurance is required regardless of whether or not the motorist actually owns or operates a vehicle.

Depending on the specific details of each motorist’s situation, there are three different kinds of SR22 certificates that can be filed. The first of these forms is an operator’s certificate. An operator’s certificate pertains to insurance that covers a licensed motorist when operating a vehicle that they do not own. This certificate is a legal requirement for motorists who have had their license reinstated but do not own a vehicle. Second is an owner’s certificate, required for reinstated motorists who own an automobile. Lastly, reinstated motorists who both own a vehicle and operate vehicles owned by others require an operators-owners certificate.

SR22 Coverage

So what will an DUI certified insurance policy cover for a reinstated driver? Although there are differences between different states and policies, it would generally extend to liability and property damage in an accident involving the reinstated motorist. However, it is important to note that in many cases this coverage only applies to covering the costs of the other motorist who may be involved in an accident with the reinstated motorist. The policies most significant function is in offering peace of mind to other motorists in the event they are in a crash caused by or involving the SR22 motorist. However, if the reinstated motorist is not at fault in the accident, or if it is a no-fault accident, the reinstated motorist’s costs are likely to be covered by the policy.

SR22 Costs

DUI Insurance policies tend to be more expensive than non-DUI policies. It is a basic tenet of insurance that a higher risk motorist will be expected to pay a higher fee. However, this does not mean that it is impossible to land a good deal. Although it is costly, it is not too hard to shop around online or by phone to locate the most affordable SR22 plan required by the state. Moreover, because it is tied up in more legal mandates than traditional insurance, it’s always a good idea to contact a broker in order to search out the best possible deal.

What Does It All Mean

At the end of the day, SR22 Insurance amounts to a certification that is appended to an auto insurance policy for the purpose of informing the State Department of Motor Vehicles that a motorist who had been suspended is now correctly reinstated and in total compliance with the state’s minimum insurance requirements. Most cases stem from incidents where a motorist was suspended for failing to carry sufficient insurance, so it is only natural that these policies were put in place to deal with such a dangerous action.

However, as stated above, SR22 can also come into play due to any number of offenses, such as DUI, reckless driving, or any other vehicular activities that are potentially harmful to others.

In the case of a first DUI conviction (or refusal), the motorist is usually required to maintain an DUI policy for five years. That goes double for a second offense, and a third offense doubles the time again for a twenty-year policy. A fourth DUI offense means that the motorist will be required to carry SR22 Insurance for life.

The easiest course of action is to simply steer clear of the offenses that can get your license suspended. But if it’s too late for that, some comparison shopping and diligent research can help you find the most affordable SR22 Insurance possible.

Most states require an SR22 for major convictions such as a DUI or DWI, driving while license suspended or revoked and at fault accidents without insurance to name a few.

When it comes to breathalyzers you definitely want to get an accurate reading. It allows everyone in your family to be safe and keep the public safe as well. After all, you probably don’t want to drive illegally, especially when you will have to be accountable for any issues that evolve.

It really doesn’t take a lot of work to maintain a breathalyzer either. The moment you get your hands on the device, be sure you’re using it properly and look into what needs to be done over time to ensure it’s always in good condition. You’ll find that what you will have to do is keep up with the recalibration from time to time.

Recalibration is simply repairing the sensor so that it remains as accurate as possible. When breathalyzers are put together in the factory the sensors are perfectly calibrated to give accurate results, but over time the sensor becomes dirty and stops giving the most accurate results. That is why calibration is necessary.

We recommend taking the time to read over the manufacturer’s manual or even giving them a direct phone call. Most likely they will say you have to mail your unit to them for a fee and they will provide the proper maintenance before mailing it back to you.

It’s really something you should do, but if you can recalibrate it yourself then go for it. However, most manufacturers will tell you that this will void the warranty. Plus they already know what needs to be done, which makes the process much easier.

If you want to alleviate this all together you can simply purchase a breathalyzer model that doesn’t need any type of calibration performed. These do cost a bit more, but when you compare to the fees and shipping costs to the manufacturer it’s a better deal. The best part is you won’t have to worry about any maintenance at all and still get accurate readings.

A good point we almost forgot about is there are no other maintenance tasks involved. Well, for most breathalyzers anyways. In order to find this out you should look over all your paperwork and manual that comes with the breathalyzer. If there are other requirements you will definitely find them in here.

If you feel you are getting inaccurate results or the unit stops functioning properly, you should consult the manufacturer for troubleshooting assistance. You may have a defective unit which could be covered under a warranty or it could simply be worn out by constant use or being dropped or shoved around inside your vehicle or purse.

You might also want to take the time to check the Internet. There are several choices available, which means you will have to check prices from each one. It’s important to figure out whether or not it will be cheaper than just sending it off to the manufacturer. The end result is you will have the perfect solution for your breathalyzer.

The UK Government is looking to fall in line with the rest of the EU by reducing the legal blood alcohol limit for drivers. The current limit is 80mg per 100ml of blood which would allow the consumption of roughly a pint and a half of medium strength lager for an average sized man. The proposed limit would bring it down to 50mg per 100ml of blood is less than an average pint or a large glass of wine but would match the legal limit in the European Union.

430 people were killed as a result of drink driving last year according to Lord Adonis, the Transport Secretary, however this figure does not reflect any figures that of fatalities where drivers were above the lower limit. He also suggests drug-driving is a key concern for the public.

The current UK laws mean that anyone found driving over the legal limit faces an automatic 12 month driving ban but there is current investigation by Sir Peter North QC into the possibilities of introducing a second, lower penalty for anyone above the lower limit such as 6 points on a driving licence. Changes could also see prosecutions for drivers found with illegal drugs in their bloodstream, regardless of whether it impaired their performance.

Insurers also concurred with the decision, Edmund King, president of the AA remarked that “the legal issue is more complex than the limit as a sliding scale of penalties could reduce the deterrent effect. There is a serious problem with drink drive repeat offenders with recent figures suggesting that almost a quarter of drink drivers have served a previous ban.”

AA President, Edmund King agreed, “the legal issue is more complex than the limit as a sliding scale of penalties could reduce the deterrent effect. There is a serious problem with drink drive repeat offenders with recent figures suggesting that almost a quarter of drink drivers have served a previous ban.”

The proposal was not met amicably by everyone Tony Payne, chief executive of the Federation of Licensed Victuallers Associations. “We will fight this very very strongly,” he said. “This will penalise responsible people because of the behaviour of some idiots.

Thousands of drivers each year are convicted of a drink driving offence but even more are convicted, with lower penalties, of a speeding offence, something that causes many more fatalities each year.

Drinking and Driving in America has gotten way out of hand ! Every day there are just so many new Fatalities caused by People who Drink then get in their Cars and Drive home. Every day when you look in the paper you hear so many Horror stories and they all seem to involve the Death of a Child ! Drinking and Driving is a huge Problem and the Answer to stopping it does not seem to be forth coming.

One of the big problems seems to be the same people are getting DWI’s over and over . Why is it that these people are not getting the help they need to stop them from Drinking and Driving!

Recently I unwillingly took a look into what happens after a person is convicted of a DWI. What I found out made me both very mad and also very Scared ! It seems that at many of the Drug and Alcohol treatment Centers it is all about the all mighty dollar and there is not much concern put on Treatment.

I went to Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma NY run by Ruth M Meyer for an Evaluation. Now as a person who Drinks very little and who’s Drug use was left back in the 90′s with my Old Bongs, I was not worried about the out come . I was a little Surprised when I was told I would need to start going to Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma NY for treatment twice a week. I was very Surprised when I heard the cost per week for this was more then half my income per week. But I had Court and I did not have a Choice but to do as they said.

I was quickly told by just about every staff Member at Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma to go apply for Medicaid. I was told that they can charge Medicaid allot of Money. I took the hint that it was in my best interest to apply for Medicaid, After a trip to the Department of Social Services I was given a form that said I was Medicaid Pending, This seemed to make everyone Happy.

Almost every week I would go to Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma twice a week for One on One Consoling and for what was called the Group Class. The One on One meeting was supposed to be a one hour a week meeting was Basically me sitting in a room for around 15 Minutes with a Counselor named Chris. He would ask me how my week had been and then I would sit there listening to him apologies while he did paper work that had nothing to do with me! Most weeks he would tell me how He was over booked and most weeks He would tell me after 15 Minutes He was going to let me go early.

The Group was just a little better it was two hours long and run by a Women named Heather , The Group meeting would consist of People Complaining about their lives, Heather loved to give advice to the Group Members and She was never shy about telling you your opinion on something was wrong and of Course She was Never wrong about anything.

Now to tell the Truth at the Time I did not care at all I was just going to these meetings to look good in court for my DWI trial . Things where going fine with me at Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma , I was not getting any real treatment but I also did not care.

After about four Months of Treatment I found out I did not qualify for Medicaid. Well things Changed quick with the relationship between me and Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma , I was told by Ruth Meyer that I owed over a Thousand Dollars. I told Her I did not have the Money. I was then informed if I did not pay a huge part of the Debt off and sign a paper stating I owed the Money that Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma would report to the Judge in my case I was Non Compliant and ruin any chance at a plea Bargain ! All I could think was this is Blackmail, I signed the paper and gave Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma a Couple of Hundred Dollars!

After Court was done the Sentence I received was I had to do 50 Hours of Community Service and Attend a Meeting of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and also my License was Suspended for 90 days.

In my next one on one Counseling with Chris after my DWI case was over, I was told by Chris I no longer needed to come to Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma anymore. Chris looked at me laughed and said We both know you don’t have a problem with Drugs or Alcohol and you don’t have the Money any way.

After 40 days with no licence I received a letter from DMV saying I could get a conditional License if I attended a Seven week Drinking and Driver Program. One part of the Class is you must get an Evaluation, when I told the Teachers of the class I had taken one an attended Classes at Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma I was told that was fine! Around the end of the Seven weeks of Classes I received a letter from the Drinking and Driver Program saying I was going to fail the Class because I had never gone and had an Evaluation done! Confused I called the DDP and told them I had taken one at Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma . They told me that Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma told them I had never Completed the course there! When I called Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma and spoke with Ruth Meyer I was told that they would not consider me completed and release my info to the DDP until after I was finished paying Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma all the Money I owed them. Well I got very angry and I made a big Mistake I began Speaking loud to Ruth Meyer that I did not have all the Money right now and if She didn’t release my info to the Drinking and Driver program I would lose my License for 90 days all over again! Ruth told me that it was a Business and she felt this was the only way to get me to pay.

I borrowed the money from a friend and paid off Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma figuring everything was now Finally over, I found out real fast what happens when you raise your voice to Ruth Myer. After paying Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma they told the Drinking and Driver Program that I had never finished the Classes at Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma. I called and ask to speak to Chris but was told he no longer worked for Community Counseling Services of Ronkonkoma. I of Course lost my License for another 90 days!

This is just one outpatient rehab I had to deal with, I have talked to many Poeple who have gone threw the DWI System and I found out that it is a very cut throat Business run by People who if you do not do as they say when they say it, will do what ever they can to make your life a living Hell. During this whole ordeal the only time I felt that anyone really didn’t want me to drink and drive again was when I attended the Mothers Against Drunk Driving meeting and Surprise that meeting was free! The MADD meetings are run by Mothers who have lost Children to Drinking and Driving! These Women were not rude or condescending they just gave an honest heartfelt plea asking us to please not drink and drive! After hearing their Stories I know I never will again.

Drinking and Driving is a big Problem in America, But it is also a very large and Profitable Business !

This is only my opinion and how I remember the events.

Lawrence Jameson asks everybody please do not Drink and Drive Lawrence Jameson hopes for an end to Drinking and Driving

Ever since the invention of the automobile people have been drinking and driving. There are many people that think they can drive if they have only had a couple drinks but this is far from the truth. There is never an excuse for drinking and driving, no matter how little you had to drink.

When you take the risk and drive will drinking there are many things that may go wrong. You could end up spending the night in jail and having to pay a large fine for a DUI if you are caught driving drunk. Not to mention all of the people you are putting in danger. A DUI is the best case scenario because you could end up taking someone’s life.

You run the risk of losing a lot when you are drunk and driving. If you drive after you have been drinking you take the risk of killing yourself or someone else. You will go to jail if you wreck and the result is someone’s death. You absolutely can and more than likely will be arrested and charged with the crime of man slaughter if you kill someone will driving drunk.

Most people would have a hard time living with the fact that their bad choice caused someone to die. Of course going out and having a few drinks is perfectly fine as long as you do not drive after you drink. If you are planning to have a drink make sure you plan on a safe way to get home like a friend or taxi.

There is never a reason to drink and drive when a cab can get you there safely for only a few bucks. The few dollars you pay the cab driver to take you home could save someone’s life and it may even be yours. Never think that you can drive because you have only had one or two drinks. Many people have said that they can drive as well or better when they have been drinking but this is never true.

There is no one who can drive better while being drunk. When you and your friends go out drinking, be the responsible adult and suggest everyone take a taxi cab home. When leaving after a night out drinking ask the smart question of “what is the number for the cab”? Never ask who is sober enough to drive us home.

When you have had a couple or drinks you may not make the most rational decisions. This is why planning ahead is so important. If you plan for a cab to drive you to the club or bar then you will more than likely be taking a cab home. Ask a friend to drop you off if you plan to drink this way your car will not even be there for you to drive. This country also has a problem with teenagers driving drunk.

Set a good example for your teens and talk to them about drinking and driving. Make sure they know that drinking is harmful and that driving drunk could ruin their lives or get them killed. Too many teens have lost their lives due to drunk driving.

If you have a lead foot, you might know all there is to know about these outrageous prices and the fines that you have to pay. Every day at least ten people in each city are pulled over. So, what can you expect from speeding tickets? Well keep reading as we inform you.

There are people who have heard of the saying that if you are fooled the first time that is on you. Then there is something about if you are fooled the second time, then it is on them. Consider speeding tickets to be like this. Having gone over the speed limit and getting a ticket once or twice happens to everyone, but the more times you are pulled over the more points you get that go on your record.

People wonder how fast they have to be going before they will get pulled over. For the most part, the rule of thumb is that if you are going five or more miles over the speed limit, then you will be pulled over. Some will give you leeway for one or two miles over the speed limit. The big place that you do not want to be caught speeding as the price is doubles is in a construction zone.

Some cities actually offer classes if you are going way too fast. They call this safe driving school. This is because when they give you one of those tickets, it stays on your record. This can raise your insurance. Too many of these can mean serious trouble as well.

You have to pay these tickets. Normally you can just pay the amount if there is nothing to argue. If you do have to argue though, then you have to appear in court. Normally, when you go to fight a ticket you will not win. There have been many people who tried.

Sure, there are people who tell you to fake cry. They say that this will get you out of a ticket. This is not true. They also say to give the excuse that there is an emergency. Again, depending on the officer, this will not work. You did the crime. That is what speedometers are for.

If you do not pay a ticket, you might be wondering what happens. This can be a very serious thing. If you do not pay it and you have too many out there, they can arrest you for not paying them. Think of not only how embarrassing that might be, but also how time consuming that would be as you have to make bail and all of that good stuff.

When you are stopped remember to stop right away. They can get you for trying to outrun the police if you do not stop. Make sure that you keep your hands on the wheel too. When they approach your window that is when you roll it down and show them your license, registration and proof of insurance. We hope this gives you a glimpse of speeding tickets at its best.
