A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) brings together a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) with the electric propulsion system. The presence of the electric powertrain is supposed to achieve either much better energy economy than the usual conventional automobile, as well as much better overall performance. Many different types of HEV can be found, and the degree to which they perform as EVs can vary as well. The most common kind is the hybrid electric powered car, even though vans (pickups and also tractors) also exist.
